Clothing

Close Fitting clothes are required for all classes where technique is being taught.
Leotards and tights are made to fit the student so that the teacher can see the alignment of the body and that the student is correctly positioned.
Additional clothing (shirts, skirts, baggy shorts, tutus, etc.) prevents viewing the bodyline and hampers the ability to make corrections that are so important for growth as a dancer. Tee shirts are acceptable in Hip Hop only and shorts are acceptable for boys only. No additional clothing please!

Excessive jewelry, large hair clips and bows, etc., should not be worn, as they are distracting and could cause accidents.

• Predance, Ballet/Jazz Combo
  Pink leotard and tights. Skirts may not be worn even if attached to the leotard.
• Tap/Jazz Combo
  Pink or black leotard and pink or black tights.
• Elementary Ballet
  Solid black or blue leotard and pink, black or tan tights. Skirts may not be worn even if attached to leotard.
  
• Elementary Tap and Jazz
  Solid black or blue leotard and pink, black or tan tights or black jazz pants
• Junior and Senior Ballet
  Solid black or maroon leotard and pink, black or tan tights. Solid colored skirts may only be worn by permission of the instructor.
• Junior and Senior Jazz and Tap and Modern
  Solid colored leotard and tights, black jazz dance pants knee length or longer.
• Hippity Hop, Elementary, Junior and Senior Hip-Hop
  Solid colored print free tee shirts* leotard and tights, jazz or black dance pants knee length or longer.
• Liturgical Dance
  Comfortable clothes that allow for class movement.
  

* Diane Matthews School tee shirts may be worn
No shorts, panty hose, jeans, khakis or extra clothing please

Footwear

• Elementary level Tap - special studio black buckle tap shoes
• Ballet, Predance, Ballet/Jazz Combo - leather or canvas pink ballet slippers

• Tap/Jazz -special studio black buckle tap shoes & black Jazz shoes
• Hip-Hop - Jazz shoes: elementary levels 1 & 2 only,  Jazz dance sneakers : elementary level 3 and Junior /Senior levels
• Jazz - black jazz shoes
• Junior and Senior Tap - 1 1/2 inch heel black Character tap shoe
• Modern Dance - bare foot
• Liturgical Dance- clean, comfortable dance footwear

Students not dressed in the proper attire will be asked to sit and observe class
